thermal conductivity

Single crystal diamond has excellent thermal conductivity, but with the temperature rise, its thermal conductivity also began to decline.

If at 50, its thermal conductivity is 4 times the silver; if the temperature rises to 100 degrees Celsius, the heat conductivity is 3 times the silver.

Rupture strength

The Hertz test with 5 m/m  radius diamond probe contact to the surface of the measured object, and then test pressure.

The advantage of the Hertz test is that the test results are not subject to the size or shape of the test object.

According to the experimental data, the nitrogen content in the single crystal is increased, and the strength of diamond decreases.

hardness

Diamonds are the highest hardness of known substances on earth. As shown on the left, the nitrogen content increased, diamond hardness decreased!

But the nitrogen content increased to 1000ppm, the hardness but a substantial increase.

On the contrary, the nitrogen content of artificial single crystal is controlled between 10~100ppm, its hardness variation is smaller, so the quality is more consistent.
